Brand Y had an article that asserted that the win over Arizona "vindicates" the year's team.

Do you agree?

"For whatever reason, the early-season struggles of Washington State men’s basketball caused a lot of fans to doubt the direction of the program under Kyle Smith."

For whatever reason? What? How about the obvious reasons that we lost to teams that we had no business losing to? How about way too many turnovers game after game?

Don't get me wrong, the team is playing very well now, but that in no way "vindicates" our earlier stumbles.

What do you guys think? Nusser once again full of hot air? 😀 I believe so.

Thoughts on moving away from Leach Tree?

Not to blast the man so close to unfortunate times, but it seems his coaches are extremely loyal to each other and Texas. We don’t need any more 1-2 year guys hopping around. I understand this is possible with whoever we hire, but I think that nucleus of guys we focus on will always be in and out or jobs with the Dykes, Holgerson, Riley, Harrel, Morris etc etc. Leach’s tree is big enough and tight enough we basically stand to replace any successful OC from him within a year. Again, I know this is possible with whoever we hire, but it doesn’t seem necessary to have one of his former players anymore to run an air raid style offense. We can find that most places. Hell Bartelone could do it now. Just curious on other thoughts, because we haven’t seen much loyalty from that group outside or Leach himself and the constant turnover needs to stop.

2023 Expectations for WSU football.

We've seen some talk on here about the program, but what's your expectation for WSU in 2023? We play the following teams with the final schedule TBD.

@ CSU - win
Wisconsin - loss
Northern Colorado - win
@ ASU - win
@ Cal - win

@ Oregon - loss
@ UCLA - loss
@ UW - loss
Arizona - win
Colorado - win

Oregon State - win
Stanford - win

Green are games that I think we will be favored to win and I'll even say expect to win. Orange are tossup games where we might win given the mess at ASU and getting Oregon State at home. However, we have often struggled in Tempe and OSU is only getting better with time. UCLA is tougher to guess. DTR is gone and they were kind of a mess at the end of the season with him there. I'm showing that game as a loss because it's on the road, but it's a game that we'll have a chance at winning. Dickert's history of 7-5 regular season finishes suggests that we are going to lose to either ASU or Oregon State and maybe both.

I think we qualify for a bowl regardless and I'll be disappointed in Dickert if we don't.

Fresno State making a pushing for Pac-12 or Big-12

Curious where we land with expansion. Plus 4? Fresno St., UNLV, San Diego St. and SMU?

Position Fresno as the LA replacement team. They could do some games at SoFi would be my guess.

Top 20 all-time WSU men's basketball players...

I was thinking about what KougKurt stated below about Rodman...

"A lunch pail guy and a top 20 all time Coug Yeah I mean it."

I love the guy and wish we could clone him. He's so solid and smart...and does so much for our team.

But should he be in the top 20 of Wazzu men's basketball players?

To not go back too far in history, which players should be on the top 20 list starting with Raveling's tenure (so no Dennis Hogg, Ted Wierman, Lenny Allen or players before that included)?

We've probably done this before, but I don't remember.

So in mostly chronological order, these are the players I thought of:

Steve Puidokas
James Donaldson
Don Collins
Bryan Rison
Stuart House
Craig Ehlo
Guy Williams
Brian Quinnett
Isaac Fontaine
Tony Harris
Terrence Lewis
Bennie Seltzer
Devonte Lacy
Mark Hendrickson
Marcus Moore
Derrick Low
Kyle Weaver
Aaron Baynes
Taylor Rochestie
Brock Motum
Josh Hawkinson
C.J. Elleby
Robert Franks
Klay Thompson

That's 24. Which 5 would you take off the list to add Rodman?

I think the hard part is that Rodman does so many good things that don't necessarily get captured in the stats. Does he belong in the top 20? I can easily see a good case for him. Thoughts?

Portal Transfers/JC Transfers

I think we have 10 at this time. 4 WR; 3 LB; 2 CB; and one OL.

These are all arguably good fits from a position standpoint. I'd love to see all of them excel. At the very least I'd hope that they push others for starting spots. A significant improvement in depth, either way. The WR's as a whole appear to be a group of over-achievers who took their opportunity and did something with it; they have shown that they can catch the ball. The LB's appear to be some of that, but also guys who had HS cred but did not excel in their previous program and are looking for another chance. JC CB's have historically been a 50/50 proposition for us; let's hope at least one and preferably both can get it done. And I am fervently hoping that the FCS OL can slip in & perform just like the last one.

If all of these guys contribute we will be in a legitimate "reload" rather than "rebuild" mode. Of course, every team is saying that about their transfers. Still, I'm expecting at least 6 or 7 of the 10 will be fighting hard for a starting spot. Spring ball will be interesting.
